These are our three rescue chickens...chickens that were battery hens
but now have 30 times the space to live in. All three are laying eggs regulalry
and Agnes, the really scraggy one has now grown all her feathers back and lays eggs
virtually every day.
The hens came from the Battery Hen Welfare Trust, North Parks Chulmleigh, Devon. They are a charity
and they have a web site here: Battery Hen Welfare. They state that there are 20 million hens
kept in battery cages in the UK. The trust collects thousands of 'spent' battery hens
and re-homes them as family pets.
This company that we had the chickens from does excellent work and if you
are able to support them in any way then please do as they do a grand job of rescuing these
needy animals.
These photographs are of the chickens when we received them. Please click the 'Today'
